Winford Manor celebrates 1st birthday

Winford Manor, located in the beautiful Chew Valley, is celebrating it’s first year today over dinner with British playwright Catherine Johnson in their newly opened Labyrinth restaurant.
Catherine is best known for her script for the musical Mamma Mia! and screenplay for the film of the same name, which became the highest grossing UK film of all time and the biggest selling UK DVD of all time in January 2009. Tonight will be a joint celebration for both Winford Manor and Catherine who is celebrating 10 years since first writing Mama Mia. Catherine’s most recent play ‘ suspension’ was released at the Bristol Old Vic in February.
Catherine will be accompanied by Sheila Hanon and Gill Loats, from the Bristol Show of Strength Theatre Company. Winford Manor is one of the sponsors of Show Of Strength.

28th March 2009 saw the opening of Winford Manor Hotel’s new restaurant – ‘The Labyrinth’ offering a warm welcome to travellers and locals alike.
“The refit has been undertaken by local craftsmen and every possible care has been taken to maintain the ‘green operations’ already in place at Winford Manor from reducing carbon footprint by using local suppliers, to energy efficient equipment and working practices” says General Manager Tracey Beck.
She continues: “As well as a much needed restaurant for the local area, it allows us to expand our employment for local people. The Labyrinth’s aim is for delicious simplicity. The simplest traditional food cooked amazingly and served in abundance in beautifully peaceful surroundings."
