Triple Triumph for Bristol in 2010 Excellence Awards

Wednesday, 24th February 2010

Some of the best tourism businesses in England were unveiled yesterday as finalists in the 2010 Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, sponsored by The Caravan Club. The classic, quirky and often ‘off the beaten-track’ 2010 finalists include a secluded touring holiday park set in 12 acres of lush countryside in Cornwall, and an international festival of the arts in Salisbury.

Enjoy England Awards For Excellence 2010Bristol has been able to boast a triple triumph in this year's award nominations, with Brunel's ss Great Britain making waves in the Business Tourism category, Bordeaux Quay restaurant in the Sustainable Tourism section, and Oakham Treasures in the Small Visitor Attraction category.

Other short-listed businesses from the South West are the Salisbury International Arts Festival in the Tourism Event section; the Thurlestone Hotel, Kingsbridge, Devon (Large Hotel); Cornwall Classic Car Hire, Bodmin, Cornwall (Best Tourism Experience); and Trethem Mill Touring Park, Truro, Cornwall (Caravan Holiday Park).

All 46 national finalists were selected from over 100 regional winners submitted by regional tourist boards and were rigorously assessed by independent assessors and a team of judges to make it through to the national final. All the winners will be unveiled at a glittering awards ceremony held in the Corn Exchange at The Brighton Dome on 23 April in celebration of St George’s Day.

Congratulations to Bristol's three nominees, and the very best of luck at the awards ceremony in April.
